A test team at a large multinational company's North American site tuned into the Rex Black's Webinar, with Bob Galen, on the Great Agile Debate. Rex played the part of Agile skeptic, raising a number of challenges he believes Agilists needs to solve before Agile can be seen as truly "tester-friendly." Rex was also concerned about certain elements of over-hyping by some consultants and trainers, zealotry and intolerance for open debate about Agile's true pros and cons, and the "Christmas Tree Problem" of various people attaching their own pet process changes onto Agile like ornaments on a Christmas tree. Rex and Bob did agree that, when Agile principles are applied properly, a number of the Agile testing challenges can be resolved, though Rex remained concerned about the fact that so few people do seem to apply Agile properly.
The testers reacted very positively to Rex's comments. One described the Webinar as the "best team building activity we've had in a long time." Many found Rex's presentation not only informative and true-to-life, but also quite funny. One commented, "Laughter is a healer, so we thank you for providing us with this today."
Rex Black, RBCS President, responded to this reaction by saying, "It's really gratifying to know that my positions and opinions are so spot-on for so many testers struggling with Agile implementations in their workplace. RBCS exists to help testers--and the organizations who employ them--succeed, whatever the lifecycle, the technology, or the business domain. It's nice to hear from people who have heard me speak about Agile testing challenges that we are helping them with these challenges."
